That angels line is enigmatic. Nathaniel was concerned that Ms. Brazil was being mean to the weirdos and rejects. He identifies with the underdogs. To me the comic captures nicely the artist's (a weirdo by definition!) conflicted response. Seems timely as many of us contemplate our tenuous grasp on the middle class. The freaks and losers have a lot to teach as they continue to attract and repel.
